- The default privacy settings for Instagram are basically "public". Students should change their settings to .
- Once the photo or video is shared on a service mentioned above, the privacy of that photo depends on the individual privacy settings the recipient is using on those services, potentially making the photo available to just about anyone.
- There is a geotagging feature, which is turned off by default, but when turned on, will let viewers see exactly where your child is right now.
- There is a comment section, which can be used as a conversation tool. Child predators can use this feature to lure a child in.
- Be careful not to send pictures and comments about being on vacation. Viewers will know your house is empty.
- Be aware that your child can easily view inappropriate pictures posted by other viewers.
